Animax’s Anime Culture Club program posted a preview of its October 1st episode with A Certain Magical Index editor and producer guests. The preview’s description revealed A Certain Magical Index Season 3 by briefly stating the following:
A Certain Magical Index Season 3 Green-Lit!
A Certain Magical Index has been captivating many fans since season one began airing in 2008 and season two in 2010. More than six years later, the series’ has been green-lit for a season three! About a decade since the first season, what kind of story will turn out?
The above preview statement is no longer on the program’s website and has been removed. As mentioned, the program with A Certain Magical Index producer Kohei Kawase and editor/producer Kazuma Miki will air October 1st. Interestingly enough, Miki had stated in 2015 that “There is no season 3 yet for Index. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m very sorry.” This past Spring he asked fans to “Please wait a little longer for season 3!”
Kazuma Kamachi’s A Certain Magical Index light novel series began in 2004 and was finished in 2010. The series has since seen two anime seasons, an anime film, and multiple manga adaptations. Yen Press is publishing the light novels and manga in English.
More information about A Certain Magical Index Season 3 will likely be announced at the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival 2017 which is also being held on October 1st.
