This winter season of anime has a strong list of shows quickly filling my watch list, with Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san being one of them.
I have waited for over a year ever since I discovered the manga series of the same name by comedy master Souichirou Yamamoto. The art style has its own attractive characteristics to it that grows on you in just a few chapters. I was never of the “large forehead” characteristic in heroines, but Takagi-san became one of my favorite heroines in any series in a short period of time.
The whole appeal of this series is the masterful teasing coming from Takagi-san towards her classmate Nishikata. The two of them have a hilarious relationship that makes you root for them being together in the long run. It’s apparent how Takagi-san likes Nishikata and she hides it by teasing him in a cute manner; while Nishikata is becoming more aware of his attraction towards her as the series progresses. This dynamic between the pair helps keep the story fresh and entertaining with Souichirou finding new ways to make us readers laugh every chapter.
Seriously, the manga is amazing and seeing it adapted in anime form is a blessing. The anime adaptation actually helps do the series justice rather than hindering its potential.
If you want to watch something that’s funny, lighthearted, and entertaining, then Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is a show I highly recommend. So, please watch it and thanks for reading. You will most likely love it, especially if you’re a fan of comedy.
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is free to watch on Crunchyroll.
