On July 21st, an announcement stated that the Love Me, Love Me Not anime film will release in Japan on September 18, 2020. The live-action film will release a month before that, on August 14, 2020.
Love Me, Love Me Not is a new manga series by esteemed creator Io Sakisaka. She also created the widely popular Blue Spring Ride and Strobe Edge anime series. Love Me, Love Me Not was announced in June 2015 in the Japanese magazine Bessatsu Margaret. The manga debuted in October that year. Once it hit the stands, it instantly made its way into the hearts of shoujo lovers and general manga readers alike. There are now twelve volumes in the series in total.
For all the Blue Spring Ride fans out there, here is another series you will love from the mangaka. A story where she wanted to address love a little differently than she did in Blue Spring Ride. If you haven’t heard of this manga before, now’s your chance to pick up a copy before the film’s release.
In an August 2019 announcement, Love Me, Love Me Not would get both an anime film and a live-action film, both slated for 2020. The original release dates for the films were in the spring of 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the films are on hold and scheduled for a later release date. These films are separate from one another, so you don’t have to see one before the other.
We are so excited for these films and look forward to what Io Sakisaka has done with her newest work. As of yet, there have been no announcements on when the films will be available worldwide, but it will likely be shortly after the initial release in Japan. And we’ll be there to let you know!
