TBS Animation posted a new trailer for The Quintessential Quintuplets the Movie onto their YouTube channel. The movie trailer was revealed on May 5th in Japan, the same day as the quintuplets’ birthday.
The Japanese theaters will sell pamphlets, clear posters, acrylic stands, tin badges, and more as merchandise. A full-color 80-page luxury pamphlet containing gravure and interviews with the cast will also be available. Abema will host a special program featuring the six cast members on their Anime Live channel. The special program is scheduled to air on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 8pm JST.
The Quintessential Quintuplets the Movie releases in Japanese theaters on May 20, 2022. The film will conclude the anime adaptation of the series. Bibury Animation Studios is producing the film. Masato Jinbou will direct the project, with Keiichirou Oochi writing the script and Akihito Ougiyama as the art director.
Negi Haruba created the original manga, The Quintessential Quintuplets, which published by Kodansha from August 2017 until February 2020. The story is a romantic comedy about a high school boy that tutors quintuplets, but all five quirky sisters hate studying.
Tezuka Productions created the first anime adaptation of the series which aired in the Winter 2019 season. Bibury Animation Studios took over the production of its second season, which aired in Winter 2021. The upcoming movie will cover the manga’s wedding finale. A bonus chapter which takes place after the ending is also in the works, with a May 18, 2022 release date.
The anime voice cast for The Quintessential Quintuplets includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Kana Hanazawa, Ayana Taketatsu, Miku Ito, Ayane Sakura, and Inori Minase.
Motoki Tanaka (aka Tensho) founded Bibury Animation Studios in 2017. A one-minute anime promotional video released with the announcement. Their first major work was Grisaia: Phantom Trigger THE ANIMATION, which Tensho directed himself. Bibury Animation Studios also produced the currently airing anime BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DAWN FALL. The studio is named after the town of Bibury in England.
