Netflix really seems to be upping their anime game in the near future. Ted Sarandos, the company’s chief of content, confirmed that 30 anime series and 80 original films are in the works for 2018. Unfortunately, no additional information is available on these anime series at the moment.
It seems that many of these upcoming series will be original along with the films, as the company moves to make Netflix’s library 50% original by the end of 2018. Some of the anime series already planned for 2018 include Violet Evergarden (Kyoto Animation), Lost Song (LIDEN FILMS), A.I.C.O. -Incarnation- (BONES), Kakegurui (MAPPA), Sword Gai: The Animation (DLC Inc.), and B: The Beginning (Production I.G), just to name a few.
We will update this post once we get more information on the topic. What are your thoughts on Netflix’s anime and original content ambitions?
