“Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon” Brings Back the Inuyasha Franchise

Moroha, Setsuna, and Towa from the Yashahime: Half-Demon Princess anime

Earlier this week, VIZ Media officially announced the continuation of the Inuyasha story in the form of a sequel anime titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon! With the original Inuyasha anime ending it’s run in 2004 and the Final Act season ending in 2010, this return to the universe of such a classic anime is highly anticipated after a decade of relative silence! In the vein of other popular anime continuations, this sequel will follow the next generation of characters.

Step Back Into the Inuyasha Universe with Yashahime

VIZ released a short synopsis with the announcement, giving a pretty detailed look at what to expect from the series. The anime will return to Feudal Japan and follow the half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna. The twins become separated during a forest fire. Towa, the older of the two, searches for her sister and winds up going through a tunnel that puts her in modern-day Japan. Sota Higurashi comes across her and raises her.

Ten years pass and the tunnel that brought Towa to modern times opens once again and the two sisters reunite. Setsuna is now a demon slayer and has seemingly lost all memories of Towa.

Moroha, Kagome and Inuyasha’s daughter, will join the two sisters. And the three women will travel between both eras on an adventure to seek their shared past. With half-demons in the mix, the adventure is sure to be exciting!

So we know there’s going to be interesting things in this sequel from the synopsis! From seeing the next generation and what they’ve been up to and possibly seeing some of our favorite Inuyasha characters making brief appearances, there’s quite a bit to look forward to!

As of May 13th, there is no release date for Yashahime: Half-Demon Princess. Looking for more Inuyasha updates? Check out VIZ’s official Inuyasha page here.
