Today was the third and final day of the event where they announced four new licenses. The new licenses include Ride Your Wave, Berserk of Gluttony, Reiwa Hanamaru Gakuen, and The Demon Girl Next Door.
The announcements were originally planned for summer cons, but due to COVID-19 stopping events, Seven Seas is revealing them online instead.
Seven Seas Event Day 2 Announcements
Today they announced the last four licenses they’ve recently acquired. Here are the newest licenses Seven Seas announced during their NO PANEL, NO PROBLEM event.
Ride Your Wave by Masaaki Yuasa, Mika Toyoda, Reiko Yoshida, and Machi Kiachi
Seven Seas’ first announced another double-header (light novel and manga adaptation). Only this time is based on the hit emotional summertime anime movie Ride Your Wave from Masaaki Yuasa.
“Ride Your Wave novel and manga spin-off by Masaaki Yuasa, Mika Toyoda, Reiko Yoshida, and Machi Kiachi. Based on the anime film about love and grief with a touch of magic!”
New college student Hinako, who moved to a small seaside town to surf and have fun, finds herself falling in love with firefighter Minato after he saves her from a fire. Their young romance comes to an abrupt end when Minato drowns…but in her grief, Hinako discovers that singing a song they used to perform as a duet summons Minato into the nearest body of water–be it a puddle, glass, or bathtub. Will Hinako be able to reach Minato again? Originally released as an anime movie by visionary director Masaaki Yuasa–which ran in North American theaters in early 2020–these books are the perfect companions to the film, coming to English-language Blu-ray on August 4 from Shout! Factory.
Light novel releases in February 2021 for $13.99 USA / $17.99 CAN. Manga releases in May 2021 for $12.99 USA / $16.99 CAN.
Berserk of Gluttony by Isshiki Ichika, fame, and Daisuke Takino
The next announcement is a dark fantasy double-header for all the anime gluttons out there.
“Berserk of Gluttony by Isshiki Ichika, fame, and Daisuke Takino, the dark fantasy light novel and manga series about eating the strength of your enemies!”
Fate Barbatos has never tasted real power. Born with the magical skill Gluttony, he constantly hungers in a way that can’t be satiated, and has been shunned and looked down upon his entire life. One day, while working as a gatekeeper for a noble family and fighting a trespassing thief, he discovers Gluttony’s true power: when he kills someone, he devours their skills and feeds his gnawing hunger at last. In that grisly realization, Fate is awakened to his true potential. How many lives will he feed on to satisfy this hunger, and is the world ready for the frightening warrior he’ll become?
Light Novel Vol. 1 releases in print in January 2021 (with early digital release) for $13.99 USA / $17.99 CAN. Manga Vol. 1 releases in February 2021 for $12.99 USA / $16.99 CAN.
Reiwa Hanamaru Gakuen by Kotobuki
The third license announcement from Seven Seas today is an “ultra-cute, bro-tastic” manga.
Reiwa Hanamaru Gakuen manga series by Kotobuki, an ultra cute and hunktastic high school comedy!
The hunks at Hanamaru Academy are putting the boot (and booty!) to expectations. Instead of wearing drab blazers, these studs are obsessed with the length of their skirts and the size of their chests as they try to navigate high school. This high-energy comedy takes being cute and being cut to a whole new level!
Volume 1 releases in April 2021 for $12.99 USA / $16.99 CAN.
The Demon Girl Next Door by Izumo Ito
The fourth and last license from Seven Seas today is an adorable demon manga.
“The Demon Girl Next Door manga series by Izumo Ito. The comedic tale of a weak demon girl and her powerful magical girl rival that inspired the anime!”
Yoshida Yuko was living a perfectly normal (if poverty-stricken) life, but at the age of fifteen, she suddenly sprouts demon horns and a tail! Her mother explains that she’s actually a demon named Shadow Mistress Yuko, once sealed away and cursed so that her family would remain poor for generations. Now Yuko can break that very curse if she defeats Chiyoda Momo, a magical girl who goes to her school…but Momo is stronger than she is, knows how to manage magical powers. And is so freaking nice that she’s actually helping Yuko out of scrapes. Yuko’s too weak and uncoordinated to straight-up kill Momo, even if she wanted to, but she can’t just be buddies with this generous magical girl, either–she has to break the curse on her family somehow. What’s a demon girl to do?
Volume 1 releases in January 2021 for $14.99 USA / $18.99 CAN.
