Funimation has revealed new information regarding the upcoming series Combatants Will Be Dispatched! (also known as Sentoin, Hakenshimasu!). A new preview teaser and key visual were revealed, as well as who the staff and main cast members for the series will be. The up-and-coming TV anime adaptation about an evil company seeking to take over multiple worlds is based on the sci-fi comedy light novels written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kakao Lanthanum. Akatsuki is best known for writing the new Knonosuba movie, Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!
The main staff for the anime series includes names such as the aforementioned Natsume Akatsuki, who will be advising the scripts and providing original work, and Kakao Lanthanum, who is heading original illustrations for promotional materials. Hiroaki Akagi comes to the team to direct (best known for his work Karaki Jozu No Takagi-san), the character design is being headed by Sota Suwa, and production is being headed by the aptly named Combatants Will Be Dispatched! production committee. This committee is part of the J.C. STAFF, who worked on the latest Konosuba movie as well as the second season of One Punch Man. Music is being headed by Masato Koda and the role of music production will be headed by the team at Nippon Columbia.
We were also shown the two main voice actors for the series: Yusuke Shirari and Miyu Tomita will play the series leads of Combat Agent Six and Alice Kisaragi respectively.
The original series of Combatants Will Be Dispatched! light novels was published in Japan by Kadokawa under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint publishing team. Since November 2017, there have been six published novels in the series. Translated versions in English-speaking territories are distributed by Yen Press, who gave a synopsis of the story of the light novels as follows:
Always bring a gun to a sword fight! With world domination nearly in their grasp, the Supreme Leaders of the Kisaragi Corporation–an underground criminal group turned evil megacorp–have decided to try their hands at interstellar conquest. A quick dice roll nominates their chief operative, Combat Agent Six, to be the one to explore an alien planet…and the first thing he does when he gets there is change the sacred incantation for a holy ritual to the most embarrassing thing he can think of. But evil deeds are business as usual for Kisaragi operatives, so if Six wants a promotion and a raise, he’ll have to work much harder than that! For starters, he’ll have to do something about the other group of villains on the planet, who are calling themselves the “Demon Lord’s Army” or whatever. After all, this world doesn’t need two evil organizations!
Combatants Will Be Dispatched! will begin broadcasting in Japan this April.
