A brand new trailer from TMS Entertainment began streaming on Monday for the second season of Baki Hanma, the anime adaptation of Keisuke Itagaki’s Hanma Baki – Son of Ogre manga. The trailer focuses on a new fighter in the series called Pickle, a warrior from a bygone, primitive age.

Baki Hanma is the third Baki series on Netflix and is a sequel to the Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen series. The anime debuted worldwide on Netflix in September 2021 with all 12 episodes.

Netflix describes the anime as follows:

The story finally unfolds into a full-blooded clash between Baki Hanma and his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is known as the “strongest creature on earth.” The climax of the Baki universe, which depicted the “strongest parent-child brawl in the history of the world” in the original manga, has been adapted into the long-awaited anime!

The new anime of Keisuke Itagaki‘s Baki (New Grappler Baki: In Search of Our Strongest Hero) manga debuted its first season on Netflix Japan in June 2018, followed by the second half of the first season being released in March 2019.

Grappler Baki, known as Baki the Grappler in North America, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1991 to 1999 and was collected into 42 volumes by Akita Shoten.

The series was followed by four sequels in the same magazine, which was serialized from 1999 to 2005, and was collected into 31 volumes. Baki Hanma was serialized from 2005 to 2012 and was collected into 37 volumes, and Baki-Dou was serialized from 2014 to 2018 and was collected into 22 volumes. A fifth series, also named Bakidou (but with Baki’s name written in katakana instead of kanji), was released on October 4, 2018.

The first adaptation of Baki on TV was a 45-minute OVA released in 1994. A 24-episode anime would come later and air on TV Tokyo between January 8 and June 25, 2001. It was quickly followed by a second 24-episode series from July 22 to December 24, 2001. An original net animation was released on Netflix between June 25 and September 24, 2018. This ran for 26 episodes, ending in December 2018. Netflix released the first 13 episodes outside of Japan in December 2018. This was followed by a second season that came out on June 4, 2020. The third season debuted on September 30, 2021.
