An announcement came from Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ manga website on Friday about the series World’s End Harem ~Britannia Lumiere~ (or Shūmatsu no Harem: Britannia Lumiere). It was announced that the series will be on a hiatus for an unknown duration due to the health of the mangaka, Kira Eto. The series by Eto is the third spin-off of the larger LINK by Kotaro Shono’s World’s End Harem.
The spin-off series was first published on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus website on August 20, 2020 to fan and critic acclaim. Shueisha describes the series as follows:
High school girl Eri has a strong and pure heart. One day, she is suddenly summoned to another world, “Britannia” where only men exist. To save this world as the “goddess of light”, a harsh battle begins in this world full of men!
LINK and Kotaro Shono, the author and illustrators of the original World’s End Harem manga announced the spin-off manga series on May 12th. The spin-off was then promptly released on the Shonen Jump+ website on June 26th. The series has had a steady release run so far, with the 17th and latest chapter of the manga having been released on November 20th.
The original World’s End Harem manga launched on the Shonen Jump+ website and app in May 2016 with success from fans and critics alike. The manga is said to be inspiring a television anime adaptation that will premiere sometime in 2021. Meanwhile, Shueisha published the manga’s 5th and 12th volumes on August 4th.
In English speaking territories, Seven Seas’ Ghost Imprint is translating and publishing the original manga into English, of which the 3rd volume was shipped out on November 10th, the 9th volume was shipped out on November 24th, and the 10th volume will ship on February 23rd. It is likely that Seven Seas will publish Britannia Lumiere manga volumes in English when volumes start being compiled for the series.
Seven Seas describes the plot of the original manga as follows:
The Man-Killer Virus: a lethal disease that has eradicated 99.9% of the world’s male population. Mizuhara Reito has been in cryogenic sleep for the past five years, leaving behind Tachibana Erisa, the girl of his dreams. When Reito awakens from the deep freeze, he emerges into a sex-crazed new world where he himself is the planet’s most precious resource. Reito and four other male studs are given lives of luxury and one simple mission: repopulate the world by impregnating as many women as possible! All Reito wants, however, is to find his beloved Erisa who went missing three years ago. Can Reito resist temptation and find his one true love?
LINK and SAVAN debuted the first of the World’s End Harem spin-off titles, World’s End Harem: Fantasia, back in 2018. The manga is ongoing and has been printed in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine, the Shonen Jump+ service, and the Young Jump! app.
Additionally, writer Okada Andō launched another spin-off of World’s End Harem: Fantasia titled Shūmatsu no Harem: Fanatasia Gakuen (World’s End Harem: Fantasia Academy), which was published in Ultra Jump on May 19th.
We send our warmest well wishes to Kira Eto and hope she gets well soon.
