With the wrap-up of Dr. Stone’s television anime comes an announcement that a sequel to the series has been greenlit for production. Toho Animation posted a special promotional video announcing the series’ sequel: Age of Exploration. The announcement was light on production details but gave us an air date and information on the production crew. The theme of this sequel arc is “aquatic”, featuring the characters crossing the unexplored ocean towards an unknown continent.
Age of Exploration will be following the release of Dr. Stone: Stone Wars, which released to Japanese audiences on January 14th on the Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, BS11, and TV Aichi channels. Crunchyroll has partnered with the series to stream simulcast in all worldwide regions apart from Asia, with Funimation producing and streaming the dub.
First season director Shinya Iino returns to direct the new season, with TMS Entertainment producing the series. Shinya is known for his work directing episodes of Hanebad!, Revue Starlight, and Made in Abyss. Yuichiro Kido, known for Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, After the Rain, and 91 Days, is also returning to the new season of Dr. Stone to supervise and head writing scripts. Yuko Iwasa, best known for Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas and Yowamushi Pedal, is returning as lead character designer. Tatsuya Kato, best known for composing music for Children of the Whales and Anima Yell!, and Yuki Kanesaka, known for Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond, will work on the series’ music composition.
IMDB describes the series as following:

However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan in mind—to kickstart civilization with the power of science!
