Dr. STONE: STONE WARS Release Date Announced

A release date has been announced for season 2 of Boichi and Riichirou Inagaki’s acclaimed Dr. STONE anime sequel, Dr. STONE: STONE WARS. The announcement came through the first 2021 issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The magazine reports that the STONE WARS series will premiere on January 14, 2021. The series will hit domestic television on the Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, BS11, and TV Aichi channels, in addition to select online streaming services.

Crunchyroll will stream the series globally, apart from some Asian regions, while Funimation has the distribution right to stream the dub (release date TBA) on its online service.

There are already announcements for the voice actors for the new cast. New additions to the series include Kensho Ono as Ukyou Saionji, Yoshiki Nakajima as You Uei, and Atsumi Tanezaki as Nikki Hanada.

First season director Shinya Iino will be returning to direct the second season, with TMS Entertainment producing. Shinya is known for his work directing episodes of Hanebad!, Revue Starlight, and Made in Abyss. Yuichiro Kido (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, After the Rain, 91 Days) also returns for the latest series to supervise and head writing scripts. Yuko Iwasa (Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, Yowamushi Pedal) is returning as lead character designer. Tatsuya Kato (Children of the Whales, Anima Yell!), and Yuki Kanesaka (Blood Blockade Battlefront, Beyondthe Boundary Insert Song) return to the series to compose the music.

Fujifabric (Space Brothers, Boruto, and Silver Spoon) will perform the opening theme for STONE WARS, “Rakuen” (Paradise), and Hatena will perform the ending theme song, “Koe?” (Voice?).
