Acclaimed manga creator Hiromu Arakawa recently shared the announcement of her newest manga in the August edition of Square Enix’s magazine Monthly Shonen Gangan. Well known for her series Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon, Arakawa’s most recent work can be seen in the currently running manga The Heroic Legend of Arslan.
While there is little known about the new project, Arakawa did release a visual that features what we can presume is the main character of the new series. No release date is set, but it is “coming soon”.

Arakawa’s New Manga Announced Just in Time for Fullmetal Alchemist’s Anniversary
The announcement of Arakawa’s new manga series comes just in time for Fullmetal Alchemist’s 20th anniversary. July 12, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary for the well-loved series. Monthly Shonen Gangan, which published Fullmetal Alchemist at one point, also took time to highlight various commemorations and celebrations for the anniversary.
Some of these included the following:
- The announcement that an art exhibition would be returning to Tokyo and Osaka during winter 2021 and spring 2022.
- A special anniversary commemoration book tied to Fullmetal Alchemist.
- A livestream dedicated to the series that you can view here.
- A free digital release of the first volume of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga.
With Arakawa’s work in manga spanning across 20+ years, fans certainly have something to look forward to with the announcement of her newest series.
