Yasuhiro Takemoto, KyoAni Director, Confirmed Dead After Arson Attack

Even more devastating news comes after the arson attack on the Kyoto Animation studio’s attack that happened on the 18th of July.  Director of Lucky☆Star, Full Metal Panic! and Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Yasuhiro Takemoto has been confirmed dead at the age of 47 after the fire in Kyoto Animation’s studio in Kyoto.

Yasuhiro Takemoto was born on April 5th, 1972. Though there isn’t much known for the childhood he had, he graduated in the Yoyogi Animation Institute. Upon graduation, he joined the animation studio Kyoto Animation where he became one of the first important members for the animation studio. One of his first-ever director roles was for Full Metal Panic? Foumoffu which ended up being a really successful movie with high ratings. And 2 years later. He ended up directing Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid which also had the same success as the first one. But he also directed 2 very well known seasonal anime. Those 2 being Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and Lucky☆Star. Both of them being really popular around the anime industry. Dragon Maid is the first-ever anime I’ve fully watched.

Season 2 of Miss Koboyashi’s Dragon Maid was in the works before the arson attack with Takemoto as its director. After equipment and planning materials were destroyed in the fire, they may have to start from scratch or pass the project to another studio.

Yasuhiro has done a lot to the anime industry. And has brought many great hours of entertainment for the world. Thank you, Yasuhiro Takemoto. Rest in peace.
