Funimation is hosting their first ever convention, an all virtual event that runs from July 3-4, 2020. Upcoming panels and guests have been revealed.

In the wake of so many conventions being canceled or postponed due to COVID-19 like Crunchyroll Expo 2020, Funimation has come forward to announce their first convention ever. Called FunimationCon 2020, the virtual convention is an entirely online event from July 3-4, 2020.

Funimation’s first convention ever

Conventions like San Diego Comic-Con have shifted to online events in lieu of a physical convention, but  Funimation has decided to go full virtual with their first convention. The convention will be anime-centric and will allow fans to experience some convention favorites from the comfort of home.

And the event is also completely free to attend! Con goers can register to attend for free on the FUNimationCon 2020 website.

Industry panels and music guests revealed

With the announcement of the event itself, Funimation also revealed three panels centered around Fruits Basket, Fire Force, and One Piece. All the panels will feature the English voice cast and diving a little bit into each respective series. The Fruits Basket panel also mentions a live reading and Q&A with the cast.

Alongside the panels, there will also be music guests like Japanese artists Flow, Blue Encount, Kana-Boon, Luna Haruna, and DJ Margenal. Funimation has partnered with Sony Music Inc. to bring these artists together (virtually) for the event.

Performances from the 2019 SACRA MUSIC FES will also be streamed during the convention, including performances from artists like LiSA, Eir Aoi, and halca.

Share your love of anime

Funimation has also invited fans to share their love of anime in under 15 seconds. The site where you can submit your video says your video may be featured during the convention and it provides more technical details required for the video submissions.
