On June 25, 2020, Crunchyroll premiered the first trailer for the upcoming Crunchyroll Original series Onyx Equinox. The trailer presents a first look at the epic journey that awaits Aztec main character. The story follows Izel as he makes his way across Mesoamerica in order to save humanity from a war between gods.
Onyx Equinox presents an epic hero’s journey
Created by Sofia Alexander, Onyx Equinox tells the story of a young Aztec boy named Izel who is saved from death by the gods. He is chosen to act as humanity’s champion and now must discard his apathy towards his fellow man. All while trying to prove humanity’s great potential.

Key art for the series also released alongside the trailer, giving us a closer look at Izel and the cast of other characters we catch sight of in the trailer.
Produced by Crunchyroll Studios Production, Onyx Equinox joins their lineup of original content. The anime will be alongside other Crunchyroll Originals like Tower of God, The God of High School, and In/Spectre. The series will premiere this summer, but has no official release date as of yet.
