The latest issue of Futabasha’s Monthly Action magazine announced a spin-off Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga about Fafnir. Originally created by Coolkyoushinja, the spin-off will release on November 25th in the next Monthly Action magazine. Nobuyashi Zamurai is illustrating and writing the he Fafnir spin-off, titled Fafnir the Recluse.
The main character of the spin off will be the reclusive otaku dragon of the series, Fafnir. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid has run in Monthly Action magazine since it’s debut issue all the way back in May of 2013. Fans have loved the Dragon Maid series ever since. Seven Seas Entertainment released it’s latest tenth volume this August in English. In 2018 Monthly Action magazine announced the manga series would end soon but at a date as yet unannounced. Further popular ongoing spin offs include Kanna’s Daily Life, Elma’s Office Lady Diary and Lucoa is My xx. The three spin-offs having releases of their latest volumes on August 11th being shipped by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Coolkyoushinja’s manga inspired a series adaptation that premiered to Japanese audiences in January 2017. The series then was very popular internationally with Crunchyroll streaming simulcast, and Funimation publishing and streaming a dub in English and releasing the series on Blu-ray and DVD.
The production team announced the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid anime’s second season in February last year and will release in 2021. Kyoto Animation‘s will return to produce the sequel. The second season is titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, Super Supreme Second life Starts.
