On January 6th, Toei revealed new information regarding the upcoming second part of the Sailor Moon film project, Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon Eternal (Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie), including a new trailer. The trailer includes information about the main cast and previews the film’s theme song, “Tsukiiro Chainon” by Momoiro Clover Z.
It was revealed back in 2017 that this film project, consisting of two back-to-back films, would be considered the fourth season in the anime. The first film was originally scheduled to release in September 2020 but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first film just released this weekend, and the second film installment is scheduled to release on February 11th. The release of these films marks 25 years since a Sailor Moon film premiered on the big screen in Japan.
The series’ creator, Naoko Takeuchi, supervised the films, Chiaki Kon directed the films, Kazuko Tadano designed the characters (Tadano was also the character designer for the original anime series), and Kazauyuki Fudeyasu wrote the script. Toei Animation and Studio DEEN are co-producing the films, and Toei is distributing the features.
