ComicSmart Establishes New Digital Animation Studio: Qzil.la

Qzil.la

On February 3, 2021, manga company ComicSmart Inc. shared that they have established the new digital animation studio Qzil.la. Producer Shun Fukudome, known for his work at Production I.G., will serve as the company’s producer and representative director.

Shun Fukudome’s past work includes scripting Attack on Titan: Junior High and having a hand in production work for Blood-C.

Qzil.la’s Approach

According to Anime News Network, Qzil.la as a company “seeks to alleviate labor problems with animators while maintaining a high quality of work with a fast production process.”

ComicSmart, the manga company that started the studio, owns the Ganma! manga website as well. ComicSmart has also been involved with the manga Million Doll, Otona no Bōguya-san, and Japan Sinks 2020.

And if you’re wondering how to pronounce Qzil.la, it’s pronounced as “kujira,” which is the Japanese word for “whale”.
