An announcement from the official website for the Strike The Blood anime series announced on Wednesday last week that a fifth and final Original Video Anime season will be released in the near future. The new OVA series is titled Strike the Blood FINAL and, as its title, suggests will be the last season in the franchise. The series is set to adapt the original light novel series’ story finale. Also announced was a promotional teaser trailer for fans to watch:
The new OVA series will similarly feature the return of the crew. Hideo Yamamoto is directing the series, returning from directing the four previous Strike The Blood series, with animation provided by studio CONNECT. The staff also includes writing from Hiroyuki Yoshino, who is in charge of the scripts, and Keiichi Sano and Hideki Furukawa, who will be designing the series’ characters.
The series’ score will be composed by the talented minds at Assumed Sounds. In addition to this, Kishida Kyōdan & The Akeboshi Rockets will be performing the opening theme, while Risa Taneda will be performing the ending theme. The anime will feature a returning cast from the previous three series.
The Strike the Blood novel series recently ended; the last compiled volume by writer Gakuto Mikumo debuted to Japanese audiences in its 22nd volume in August 2020.
Strike The Blood is about high schooler Kojou Akatsuki, a school student in the Demon District of Itogami Island. His life comes to an abrupt end after a fateful encounter leaves him with the remarkable abilities of a vampire.
It isn’t long before he is thrust into the center of attention when it is discovered that he is what’s known as “the fourth primogenitor,” a powerful vampire warrior thought to be just a legend. To keep an eye on Kujou, the powerful Lion King Organization sends in their apprentice, Yukina Himeragi, to monitor and deal with Kujou, should he become a threat. Forced together by circumstance, Kujou and Yukina form an unlikely alliance as Kojou learns to tame his powers and they both struggle to protect the city from various evil forces.
