New promotional material has been released regarding the upcoming The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 anime adaptation. The announcement came from the official website for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2, which included a link to a brand new English-subtitled promotional video for the new series last Thursday. Further information revealed via the promotional video shows a new addition to the cast: Kana Hanazawa, who will be playing Ost Horai. Additionally, the promo previews the opening theme for the series, “Bring Back” by MADKID. Furthermore, the site also unveiled a new visual for the series.
For those unfamiliar with the series, this new adaptation will be the second season of the original The Rising of the Shield Hero anime, as the title suggests.
The anime is scheduled to premiere in April 2022. This is after a delay due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic. The anime’s original premiere date was supposed to be in October 2021. Crunchyroll is slated to stream The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 alongside its domestic release.
The Rising of The Shield Hero first premiered with a two-hour special in January 2019 and ran for 25 episodes. Later that year, Crunchyroll announced that the anime would have a second and third season.
Masato Jinbo, who has worked on Chaos;Child and Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei Herz!, is directing the second season of the anime. Producing the series is Kinema Citrus, alongside DR MOVIE, who is replacing Takao Abo. Keigo Koyanagi from Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars and the first season of the anime is in charge of series composition. Masahiro Suwa (known for Chaika the Coffin Princess and the first season of The Rising of The Shield Hero) is adapting Seira Minami’s original character designs for animation. Kevin Penkin is returning to compose the music.
The ending song for the new series was confirmed beforehand. Chiai Fujikawa will perform the theme song, “Yuzurenai.”
One Peace Books (no relation to One Piece) is releasing the original light novel series and Aiya Kyū’s manga adaptation in English. The publisher describes the novel as follows:
