Love Live! Superstar!! Second Season to Release in July

Love Live! Superstar!!

An announcement has come from a recent live concert event entitled “Love Live! Superstar!! Liella! 2nd Love Live! ~What a Wonderful Dream!!~”. It gave us details about the newest Love Live! anime installment. The concert announced on Sunday that the second Love Live! Superstar!! television anime season will premiere on the public tv channel NHK‘s E-Tele in July.

In addition, the Liella idols and the “Yuigaoka Girls’ High School Light Music Club” will hold additional “Love Live! Superstar!! Liella! 2nd Love Live! ~What a Wonderful Dream!!~ with Yuigaoka Girls Band ” concerts in Osaka on June 4th and 5th. The Love Live! Series, like many other idol-based anime, regularly holds concerts where the voice actors for the series participate as real-life idols.

The first season premiered on the same E-Tele channel on July 11, 2021 and aired for 12 episodes. Funimation streamed the series as it aired on simulcast.

The group of idols that star in this series is Liella. The group debuted their first single “Hajimari wa Kimi no Sora” (“The Start is Your Sky”) for a limited release digitally on February 28, 2021, with the song releasing a 2D-version in the Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS mobile game on April 7, 2021. The single was released with an anime music video that went on sale on April 7th. The group held their debut release event for their single on May 6th.

  • Liyuu as Tang Keke
  • Nako Misaki as Chisato Arashi
  • Naomi Payton as Sumire Heanna
  • Nagisa Aoyama as Ren Hazuki

Crunchyroll is streaming the first season in the U.K. and Ireland, and it describes the story as follows:

The first students have arrived at Yurigaoka Girls’ High School, a new academy built on the crossroads of Omotesando, Harajuku, and Aoyama. With no history, no upperclassmen to rely on, and no name to speak of, this school’s totally starting from scratch!

In the midst of this, a team of five girls led by Kanon Shibuya discovers “school idols.”

Hajime Yatate, the collective pseudonym for the staff of Sunrise, was credited for the original work of the series. The original concept was masterminded by Sakurako Kimino (in the original Love Live! anime).

Takahiko Kyōgoku is set to direct the new series, having previously directed the original multimedia project Love Live! School Idol Project and its subsequent film, Love Live! School Idol Project and Love Live! Sunshine!! The writer for the series is Jukki Hanada, and Atsushi Saitō adapted the scripts for the show. The original character design was done by Yūhei Murota. Yoshiaki Fujisawa also returned from the first Love Live! series to compose the music for Love Live! Superstar!!.
