The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Miku and illustrated by U35. It began serialization online in January 2014 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was later acquired by Futabasha, who has published the series since September 2014 under their Monster Bunko imprint.

Hanashi Media has licensed the light novel for an English and Spanish release. A manga adaptation with art by Sorano has been serialized via Futabasha’s digital publication Web Comic Action Manga since September 2017, and it moved to the Gaugau Monster website in December 2019. An anime television series adaptation by Hotline aired from October to December 2021 and had 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

The series is being directed by Yoshiaki Okumura and produced by studio Hotline. Gigaemon Ichikawa is overseeing the scripts, Minami Eda is designing the characters, and Hifumi, Inc. is composing the series’ music. Feel and Children’s Playground Entertainment are funding the series.

The “animal fantasy” story of The Evolution Fruit: Before I Knew it, My Life Had It Made! centers on Seiichi Hiiragi. Though at the bottom of his school’s social pecking order, he and his entire school are upended when everyone in the school is transported into another world. Seiichi finds himself alone and approached by a gorilla, who instead of attacking him, proposes to him.
