An official announcement from the website of the television anime So I’m a Spider, So What? (or Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?) has stated that the 24th episode will have to be delayed. The production team behind the adaptation of Okina Baba’s light novel series of the same name cited production issues leading to a delay. The website of the production did not say when the episode would eventually air or stream. The 24th episode was originally due to be released on Friday.
The anime originally premiered on January 8th of this year on the AT-X, Tokyo MX, BS11, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and TV Aichi channels in mainland Japan. This is not the first time the anime has run into production problems. The series had to push back its original premiere date from last year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the production team’s schedule. The anime is set to run for two consecutive quarters of the year, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as simulcast on their services.
Crunchyroll describes So I’m a Spider, So What? as follows:
I, the protagonist, was just an ordinary high school girl, but suddenly I was reincarnated as a spider monster in a fantasy world. Not only that, but I awakened in a dungeon filled with vicious monsters. Armed with only my human knowledge and my overwhelming positivity, I’m forced to use spiderwebs and traps to defeat far stronger monsters just to stay alive… So begins the labyrinth survival story of a girl with incredible mental strength living as one of the lowest-ranked beasts!
Shin Itagaki is leading the series as director, known for previous work on Teekyū, Berserk (2016), and Cop Craft. Itagaki is directing with Millepensee Inc, alongside Shinichiro Ueda as assistant director for the project. The anime adaptation of So I’m a Spider, So What? is also in collaboration with the original light novel author, Okina Baba. Baba is collaborating with Yūichirō Momose of Infinite Dendrogram and My Sister, My Writer to lead the writing for the series. Kii Tanaka, known for work on Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu and Hinomaru Sumo, is the lead on the series for the character designs.
Masahiko Suzuki, Ryō Hirata, and Hiromi Kimura are credited for monster design. Animation is being overseen by Tomohiro Yoshida, with assistance from Shinji Nagaoka, who is the art series director. Kazuo Yamaguchi is in charge of the CG scenes for the series, in collaboration with the studio Exsa and studio ENGI.
