The Shantae 5 opening animation by Trigger was released onto WayForward’s YouTube channel today. This comes just four days after WayForward announced their partnership with Studio Trigger to make the opening. The result is a quick but vivid scene by a talented team.
Now Shantae is ready for her next great adventure. Along with her, we see other familiar faces such as Risky Boots, Rottytops, and Sky.
“Presenting the Opening Animation for Shantae 5, created by none other than the revered Studio TRIGGER!
TRIGGER producer Naoko Tsutsumi (Little Witch Academia) collaborated with Shantae creator Erin Bozon (Futurama) and Matt Bozon (series director) to bring the Shantae characters to life.
Vocals for the opening were performed by Cristina Vee (Miraculous Ladybug), featuring an original composition by Mark Sparling and musical arrangement by Maddie Lim.”
Also involved was director Yoshihiro Miyajima, animation director Kai Ikarashi, and vocal producer Shawn Christmas. Aside from the new opening, game developer WayForward has released no other details.
The new opening received very positive reception. Many fans want a full Shantae anime. Others love Cristina Vee’s performance and want to hear the full song.
Some fans have also noticed what might suggest Shantae is coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate. One scene has Shantae waking up, then looking at a window that looks like the Smash franchise logo.
WayForward has been making the Shantae series since it’s first release in 2002. Shantae 5 will be out late 2019 on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade.
