Trese anime based on Filipino graphic novel teased by Netflix

At the Netflix Anime Festival 2020, Netflix announced that an anime adaptation of the Filipino graphic novel Trese is coming.

The platform will stream the supernatural horror anime worldwide in 2021. At the event, they also showed a sneak peek at the main character, Alexandra Trese (shown above).

BASE Entertainment behind the Trese anime adaptation

Jakarta and Singapore-based studio BASE Entertainment will produce the anime adaptation of the series. Jay Oliva will serve as the show’s executive producer.

When the cops are stumped, Alexandra Trese is there to protect Manila from threats of the supernatural kind. Based on the award-winning Filipino comic.

Trese is written by Budjette Tan with art by Kajo Baldisimo.

Ablaze Publishing released the English version of the series’ first volume on September 30, 2020. They plan to release more volumes of the series in the future as well.
