Date A Live IV

An announcement has come in regards to the Date A Live IV anime series, the fourth season of Date A Live. The official website for the series announced on Monday that the anime will be premiering on April 8, 2022. Alongside this announcement came a new visual to promote the series. The visual features the familiar characters, as well as the new Spirits Nia Honjō and Mokuro Hoshimiya. In addition, the announcement further included the cast of the show, naming their favorite scenes from the last three seasons, tying into a fan poll where watchers also voted for their favorite scenes. Fans’ favorite scenes will be revealed during the Fantasia Bunko Online Festival 2022 on Sunday.

Kadokawa had announced a new anime in the franchise back in September 2019. They then revealed the fourth season in March 2020.

The anime is set to premiere on the AT-X channel on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 10:00 p.m. and will also run on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and BS11. The April 8th release date follows a delay from the original premiere date of October, which was said to be due to “various reasons.”

The returning cast of the show includes the following:

  • Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shido Itsuka
  • Marina Inoue as Tohka Yatogami
  • Misuzu Togashi as Origami Tobiichi
  • Ayana Taketatsu as Kotori Itsuka
  • Iori Nomizu as Yoshino
  • Asami Sanada as Kurumi Tokisaki
  • Maaya Uchida as Kaguya Yamai
  • Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Yuzuru Yamai
  • Minori Chihara as Miku Izayoi
  • Ayumi Mano as Natsumi

The new cast members include Akari Kageyama as Mokuro Hoshimiya and Hitomi Nabatame as Nia Honjō.

Jun Nakagawa (from Date A Bullet and High School Fleet) is directing the anime at the production company Geek Toys, which has produced Date A Bullet and Plunderer. Fumihiko Shimo (from Talentless Nana and Myriad Colors Phantom World) is overseeing the series scripts. Naoto Nakamura (who has worked on High School Fleet and The Price of Smiles) is designing the characters, alongside Shiori Tanaka. Go Sakabe is returning from the previous three anime seasons to compose the music, with sound direction from Yasunori Ebina.

The opening theme song will be performed by Miyu Tomita and will be called “OveR,”. The ending theme will be performed by sweet ARMS and is titled “S.O.S.”

Tachibana launched the original light novel series in March 2011 with illustrations by Tsunako. The light novels were published by Kadokawa’s Fantasia Bunko imprint. Yen Press is releasing the novels in English.
