The latest from Shueisha’s Jump Festa ’22 event has revealed information regarding the newest installment of the incredibly anticipated sixth season of My Hero Academia. The newest season of the anime was revealed via a brand new trailer, which also revealed that season six will premiere Fall 2022.
The sixth season of My Hero Academia will adapt the “Paranormal Liberation War” arc of Kōhei Horikoshi‘s original manga. This features an all-out war between heroes and villains. The arc centers around the titular Paranormal Liberation Front, which is a large, powerful villain organization formed from the union of the League of Villains and the remnants of the Meta Liberation Army. It is led by the Grand Commander, Tomura Shigaraki. After a tip from Hawks and a new source of intel in Tartarus, the Heroes have assembled all the information they need to confront the Paranormal Liberation Front head-on.
The sixth season will follow the popular fifth season, which premiered to Japanese audiences on March 27th and covered the “Joint Training,” “Internship at Endeavor’s Agency,” and “Villain Academia” arcs of the manga. The fifth season had 25 episodes and streamed on Funimation and Crunchyroll as part of a simulcast schedule. Both services streamed the anime with English subtitles. However, Funimation had the exclusive rights to air the season’s English dub. Furthermore, the season began airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block on May 8, 2021.
My Hero Academia has had success in theatrical releases as well. The first film in the franchise, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, was released in Japan on August 3, 2018. The second film, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, opened in Japan on December 20, 2019. A third anime film titled My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes’ Mission premiered on August 6th of this year. All movies were a massive success domestically.
