Recently, a Google Drive link is circulating that may be the pilot script for the Netflix live-action One Piece. While it’s not confirmed yet, this newest One Piece leak is likely our first look at Matt Owens’ live-action version of the famous franchise.
Netflix One Piece script leak information
Despite recent talks of this One Piece leak, the script has actually been around for two months. The pilot was originally obtained and reviewed by ScriptShadow writer Carson Reeves on March 10th. In the comments of the article, a user named Scott Crawford posted a link to the script from his Google Drive account.
After two months, Arabic One Piece News poster ScotchInformer discovered the link to the script and tweeted it out yesterday. This caused fans of the series to swarm and the link as been going around since then. The leaked script is 58-pages long and has a revised date of June 7th, 2019.
The script lists Matt Owens, confirmed writer for the series, as its alleged author. Owens was a writer for past Netflix Marvel shows, such as Luke Cage, Agents of SHIELD, and The Defenders.
This isn’t the first time the upcoming show has sprung a leak. On March 10th of last year we reported a leak that revealed the Netflix listing of the show.
We tried to reach Netflix for a comment on the script leak but haven’t heard back yet.
Netflix One Piece production progress
The live-action series has been in development by Tomorrow Studios since its announcement in 2017. At the same time, they announced a live-action version of Cowboy Bebop in development.
The live-action One Piece production also hit a bit of a delay. Executive producer Marty Adelstein told Syfy recently that they have all the scripts ready but filming at Cape Town will likely be pushed back. They planned to film in August, but now they expect to start September at the latest.
Adelstein also confirmed that they have all the scripts written and are planning to start casting on June 1st. He also reminds us that they’re working closely with One Piece’s original creator, Eiichiro Oda, who’s also an executive producer for the Netflix live-action series.
Meanwhile, they had to delay Cowboy Bebop as well. After finishing three episodes, lead actor John Cho tore his ACL during an on-set accident.
